Last Wednesday night at The Warner Theatre was no different as Tedeschi Trucks Band stepped onstage for the second night of their DC run. The band has a deliberate and purposeful presence when they’re on stage together. Every member is a musical powerhouse and each could easily stand alone as a solo artist. The chemistry that this group of individuals has produced and maintained over the years is unlike any other band out there. When the lights come up and their sound begins to weave together, magic happens on the stage.

The evening kicked off with Playing With My Emotions and dove right into Bell Bottom Blues (Derek and the Dominos), the first of the evening’s ten cover songs. Throughout the evening the band featured instrumental and vocal solos from every member, showcasing their depth and range as a collective musical dynamo. The band went on to play I Feel So Bad (Chuck Willis) and Had To Cry Today (Blind Faith) before ending their first set with Pasaquan.

The night continued with a second set opening up with State Trooper (Bruce Springsteen). The band went on to play 6 additional covers while interweaving their own music throughout the set. The energy only intensified and soon the group was at full capacity during I Want More, shaking the Warner Theatre with powerful vocals from Susan and mind-bending chords from Derek. The band ended the evening with Beck's Bolero (Jeff Beck) and an Encore of I Wish I Knew by Billy Taylor. Tedeschi Trucks Band continues their North American Tour all the way into October.
